Dairy Showmanship
Basis of Showperson Awards:
(a) Exhibitor - ten percent (10%)
(b) Grooming - forty percent (40%) and
(c) Animal in Hand - fifty percent (50%).
Showpersons must dress in white. No shorts allowed. The judge will eliminate those not meeting specifications. A contestant may enter only one Class. Class 99. Senior Showperson (ages 16 & over). 100. Intermediate Showperson (ages 13-15). 101. Junior Showperson (ages 9-12). 102. 1st Year Dairy Showperson (ages 13 & over). 103. 1st Year Dairy Showperson (ages 8-12). 104. Cloverbuds Showperson (ages 5-7) - assisted by an adult or teen. Grand Champion Showperson. Reserve Champion Showperson. BREED CLASS AWARDS A trophy will be awarded to the youth exhibitor of the 1st-place animal in all Breed Classes at the Huron Community Fair. Protein Breed
The Dairy Protein Breeds Show at the Huron Community Fair highlights dairy cattle known for producing milk with higher protein content, making them valuable to the dairy industry. Exhibitors proudly present breeds such as Jersey, Guernsey, and Brown Swiss while showcasing their animals’ quality, genetics, and excellent care. This exciting competition celebrates agricultural excellence and provides fairgoers with an opportunity to learn about the important role dairy cattle play in producing nutritious dairy products.
Holstein Breed
The Holstein Breed Show at the Huron Community Fair showcases the dairy industry's most recognized breed, known for its distinctive black-and-white markings and exceptional milk production. Exhibitors proudly present their top Holstein cattle, demonstrating superior genetics, outstanding care, and a commitment to agricultural excellence.
Dairy Award
The Grand and Reserve Champion Cow of the Dairy Show will each be auctioning off a gallon of milk which is sponsored by the Huron Community Fair Board. The earnings will be divided by the Grand, Reserve, and all other members showing a milking dairy cow. Classes and premiums as listed in Division 012 are the same for the breeds listed below. The exhibitor of the Grand Champion Dairy High Protein Breed animal will be awarded a trophy.

All dairy cattle moving to the fair for sale or exhibition are required to have an official Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) ear tag.
All dairy exhibits are to be brought in on Sunday, August 9, by 9 p.m. The dairy exhibits will be released after 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 7.
Milking cows will be released Thursday afternoon. The exception is Grand and Reserve Champions.
All dairy animals must be entered in FairEntry by Sunday, May 31, 2026.
Each exhibitor will be limited to exhibiting two animals per class.
All exhibitors must be between the ages of 8 to one year after High School Graduation by December 31, 2026, to exhibit at the Huron Community Fair.
An animal can only be shown once in showmanship per show.
All feed and fair boxes must be off the cement walkway.
Fans are not permitted on the walkway; they must be out of reach.
All clippings must be done in the arena or in your stall, not in the walkway.
All animals must meet the health regulations listed in the "Health Requirements for Livestock Exhibited in Michigan." All animals must be free of infectious and contagious diseases.
The Youth Show and Open Show will be held at the same time on Tuesday, August 3, beginning at 10 a.m.
Grade animals and registered animals will be shown together in all Classes.
Cloverbuds (ages 5-7) can show in Class 104 with the assistance of an adult or teen. Participants must make plans with Gary prior to Tuesday morning for calves. Participants will be awarded a Trophy. See Division 095 for more information.
Youth exhibiting grade animals in Open Class should review Open Class rules to verify eligibility.
There is no stall fee for youth only entering the Youth Show. A stall fee is required to enter the Open Show. Open Show entries are to be submitted through Fairy Entry by Sunday, May 31, 2026. For stall assignment purposes, a copy of the entry should be sent to Gary Protzman, 4141 Maxwell Road, Caseville, 48725, by June 1.
Exhibitors are responsible for final clean-up of stalls. The final clean-up must be done by 12 noon on Sunday at the end of the fair week. Stalls must be cleaned to the satisfaction of the superintendent. A fine will be assessed to be either deducted from the gallon of milk sale or paid before being allowed to show the following year. Not cleaning stalls by exhibitors will be fined $100 per individual animal.
